While Partners Mary Spayd and Glenn Armstrong were performing as a duo, the operator of that venue, asked if they could do a Motown themed performance for the venues concert series, after the Motown style band originally scheduled canceled.
Glenn called brother Kevin Armstrong, who is an active performing musician in the greater Detroit area. Mary, Glenn, and Kevin, brought in a couple more musicians and the first Soul Town performance took place in the fall of 2023.
The show was so successful, Mary and Glenn decided to add Soul Town as another offering for live music, adding the timeless popular genre of Yacht Rock and Yacht Soul, blending it all together to the perfect music mix.
Since that first impromptu performance, Soul Town has continued on and developed annual appearances at various venues and Summer Concert Series’ throughout Ohio, Michigan, and Pennsylvania, consistently garnering new fans.
Mary as well as Kevin and Glenn come from families with a musical legacy.
